Show love at Easter, Nnamani urges Christians
April 15, 2006
The Enugu State government has urged Christians and non-Christians alike not to allow the essence of the Easter festivity pass them by, which is to see the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as an opportunity to show same unconditional love to their fellow brothers and sisters.

In his Easter message to the people of the state, Governor Chimaroke Nnamani urged the people to emulate the humility, sense of purpose and love for mankind that were the hallmarks of Christ's sojourn here on earth in their dealings with one another.

He said that as Christ played his onerous part in the development of the world of his time, every Nigerian should also seek to leave ltheir contributions towards the development of the country.

On its part, said the governor, the administration of the state is striving to leave legaciess that would endure generations just like our lord Jessus Christ's teachings did and urged the people of the state to reciprocate by imbibing the teachings on piety and humility.

He said that all the massive projects being embarked upon by the state government were targetted towards, not the adulations of today but the "imperishable references tomorrow by our children and children's children."

Governor Nnamani urged christians not to indulge in the ephemeral enjoyment of wining and dining that are associated with such festivities as this but urged them to pray in their closets for the uplift of Nigeria.
