Nnamani says his government is women friendly
March 29, 2006

The Enugu State Governor, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, has said that his government is women friendly and pays a lot of respect to teachers because they are the moulders of tomorrow who should not be ignored by any society.

The governor stated this while swearing-in two new female Permanent Secretaries at the Government House, Enugu.

The governor alluded to the Beijing Conference where an articulation of women’s projected inputs into societal development were made and said emphatically that his government had contributed greatly to the task of removing the male-dominated society’s marginalization of the women folk by involving a large number of women in the state in the task of governance.

While paying glowing tributes to womanhood and the teaching profession, he stressed that the teaching profession would guarantee the future and secure the stability of the people's heritage and tradition.

Governor Nnamani said that the women’s appointment was in tune with the pursuit of excellence by the Government of Enugu State, and urged them to endeavour to discharge their responsibilities, not only to the Government of Enugu State, but also, to the people of the State.

Dr. Nnamani reminded them that their appointment was not influenced by any person, but was in recognition of their efforts as human beings and as professionals who have held their own in their professional callings.

He enjoined the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries to be loyal to God and see their conscience as a guide while discharging their duties as Permanent Secretaries in the employment of Enugu State.

The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Dr. (Mrs.) Kate Eze and Mrs. Ndidi Deborah Chukwu, who was until her appointment a school principal.

Responding on behalf of the newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries, Dr. (Mrs.) Kate Eze thanked Governor Nnamani for finding them worthy to serve the people and the state, and promised that they would discharge their duties with all diligence, humility and dedication.
